Hangmen by Martin McDonagh

Hangmen by Martin McDonagh produced by Leeds Arts Centre

Leeds Art Centre Dress Rehearsal.

Hangmen is a darkly satirical play about the abolition of hanging in the UK, by British-Irish Playwright Martin McDonagh. You may have seen some of his other work: The Banshees of Inisherin, In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths & Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri make for quite the back catalogue of quality and should give you an idea of what you’d be in for.

Hangmen is one of his more recent works and was written for theatre. It is currently in production for Leeds Arts Centre, by the wonderful Director, Spike Marshall, which is where I became involved. On a freezing cold evening last week, I joined the talented cast at The Attic in Leeds to photograph one of the dress rehearsals. I’ve never been to The Attic before. It was a perfect rehearsal space, particularly for this play, which takes place in a Lancashire pub.

You’ll be able to see Leeds Arts Centre’s production of Hangmen at The Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds between 26th Feb & 1st March. It’s going to be a brilliantly entertaining production. The cast & crew are outstanding, as usual, and from this rehearsal, it was obvious how much enjoyment they got out of the dark humour in the script.

Tickets for Hangmen are available now from The Carriageworks Ticket Office
